I mean think about it:
~Lizzy wants Ciel's old smile back, but he can never smile again after his parents died. He can only fake a smile, because it's his duty to please her, because she's his fiancee.
~Alois (Jim), wants Claude to love him, but instead he goes after Ciel's soul (even though he said Alois's soul is a rare soul worth devouring.) Claude must pretend to care about him, because of their contract when he really doesn't.
~Another thing, Lizzy's happiness is an act; her actions are all a big fat lie. Her innocent and bubbly aura is fake. Her bright smiles are a facade...just like Alois's. In a way, they both have tragic backgrounds. Alois's (again Jim) parents dieing...and the beloved Ciel that Lizzy wants and remembers died along with his parents, now there's an empty shell of coldness and pseudo acts just like Claude is with Alois.
~Also, if you think about it, they both have different sides to themselves. Lizzy Middleford is a cute, cheerful, innocent, pure girl who wants to marry Ciel and wants him to be happy for all eternity. Elizabeth Middleford is a swords master who swore to herself she would protect him no matter how uncute or how rough she has to be (In general, Lizzy's serious side). Alois Trancy (that we know) is the 'son' of the head of the Trancy Household. He is sadistic, emotional, cheerful, all out crazy kid. However, Jim McCain, he's a lonely child who's beloved one died (Luke). In my opinion, he just truly wants to be loved by someone (He did, and I'm glad) who sees past his brutal-ness and sadistic nature. If it wasn't Hannah, I would love to say Lizzy would probably the best for him. I mean if she knows that her forcefulness stresses Ciel, who said she can't see past Alois's Facade?
~They're both emotion turmoils.
~To put it simply, Lizzy and Alois are two people who have lost something precious to them. They're both so desperate to have the love they give to their beloveds back to them (Lizzy to Ciel and Alois to Claude), but even though they know they can never have it, they push the pain away, smile, put on an act and keep on trying even if it would take them an eternity I think. Elizabeth (because I do believe there's a difference) and Jim are very lonely, strong-willed, passionate people. Lizzy, Elizabeth, Alois, and Jim in general all stand for innocence even though none of them have it. No matter how annoying and stubborn Lizzy is, or how cruel and slutty Alois is, they will always act this way; their loneliness and loveless feelings keep driving them even through the most pit-bottom situations.
This is why I love Alois and Lizzy together. I know you detest this pairing and Lizzy too, but I hope you can see that my reasons are more than just because of how they look together (strolled through the comments). What do you think?
